Effective date: July 26, 2026
Recipe Mise LLC ("Recipe Mise," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Mise mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Mise, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile and preferences: dietary preferences, household size, and similar settings.
- User content: recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, shopping lists, photos, and notes you create or upload.
- Communications: support requests and other messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, language, crash logs, and feature usage.
- Push notification token: if — and only if — you allow notifications, we store the push token issued by Apple or Google for that device, along with the device platform, a device identifier, and your time zone. The token is an identifier for a device, not for you personally, but because we store it against your account it is linked to your identity. We use it solely to deliver notifications from Mise. It is never used for advertising, never combined with data from other companies, and never shared with data brokers. Your time zone is stored so reminders arrive at a sensible local hour rather than in the middle of your night.
- Log data: IP address, request timestamps, and diagnostic information.
- Cookies and similar technologies on our website for analytics and basic functionality.
Information from third parties
If you sign in with a third-party provider or import recipes from external sources, we may receive information from those services as permitted by you and by their terms.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Personalize features such as meal planning, recipe suggestions, and shopping lists.
- Process AI-assisted features (for example, recipe generation and step-by-step cooking guidance).
- Send transactional messages such as account, security, and service updates.
- Send push notifications you have chosen to receive, such as meal reminders — only if you have granted notification permission on your device.
- Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and protect the security of the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. AI Features
Mise uses artificial intelligence to help you create recipes, plan meals, and cook hands-free. When you use these features, the content you submit (such as a recipe description or photo) may be sent to third-party AI providers under contractual protections. We do not authorize these providers to use your content to train their general-purpose models.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers who help us operate Mise (cloud hosting, analytics, AI processing, email delivery, payment processing) under contracts that limit their use of your data.
- Other users, only when you choose to share content (such as a shared recipe link or cookbook).
- Legal and safety reasons, when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
5. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Account → Delete Account) or via the link at the bottom of this page. When you initiate deletion:
- Soft-delete window. Your account is immediately disabled and you can no longer sign in. After 30 days, your remaining account record is permanently purged. The grace period exists to recover from accidental deletion (contact support during the window).
- Recipes you typed in yourself are deleted, along with their photos.
- Private recipes are always deleted, regardless of how they got into your account. Recipes are private by default; only recipes you explicitly marked as public are subject to the retention rule below.
- Recipes you imported from a URL, social media, a photo of a cookbook, or generated with AI and explicitly marked as public are retained in the public catalog with your name removed. These recipes are not your original creative work, and other users may already have referenced them in their meal plans or shopping lists.
- Recipe photos that you uploaded yourself (which could contain you, your kitchen, or other people) are deleted. If the recipe is retained as an anonymous catalog entry, an AI-generated replacement photo is created automatically.
- Ratings and reviews you wrote are deleted outright.
- Push notification tokens for every device you registered are deleted immediately, not at the end of the 30-day window, and notifications stop at once.
- Crash and diagnostic logs may persist in our error-reporting provider's systems per their retention policy (typically 30-90 days), after which they are automatically purged.
- Some records may be retained longer where required by law (e.g. tax records for paid subscriptions, abuse-investigation logs).
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your personal information.
- Receive a portable copy of your information.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app, or by contacting us at the address below.
Push notifications
Notifications are entirely optional. We collect nothing for them unless you accept your device's notification prompt, and declining costs you no other functionality in Mise — every feature works the same either way.
You can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings (Settings → Notifications → Mise on iOS, or App info → Notifications on Android). Signing out of Mise or uninstalling the app also stops notifications for that device. Once a device stops accepting notifications, we mark its token inactive and no longer send to it.
If you delete your account, we delete your push tokens straight away — for every device you registered, at the moment you ask, not at the end of the 30-day recovery window described in section 5. Nothing is kept back: the token, the device identifier, the platform and the time zone all go together. If you restore your account within that window, your device simply registers a new token the next time you open Mise.
8. Children's Privacy
Mise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. International Users
Mise is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means. The "Effective date" above indicates when this policy was last revised.
